NumisExpert Collector v.3.0
Coin Collecting Software

NumisEXPERT COLLECTOR is software for the U.S. coin collector that wants to build the best possible collection, and to manage it well. This is a Windows® based system that is automatically installed from the supplied CD-ROM. The installation software automatically checks the configuration of the computer and adds modules and utilities that are required for the software to function properly. It will be installed in demonstration mode on your computer and will place an icon of a Library of Congress 2001-W $5 gold Commemorative coin and the title NumisEXPERT 3.0 on your desktop. Installation takes just a few minutes. Clicking on the desktop icon will open the program.

To add coins to the program, click on the button “Add Coins to My Collection” and the following screen opens:

You first enter the year by typing it or selecting it from the drop-down. The cursor moves to “Mint Mark” and only the mints that produced coins for the entered year are displayed. This prevents errors because you cannot enter a mint mark for a coin year in which that mint mark was not produced. This exclusive checking works through the program checking entries at every step of the way. This copyrighted feature will become very useful to you. When the mint mark is selected, the system then displays the denominations for that year/mint mark combination. Select the appropriate one and the coin name either displays or you are given additional choices. Once the coin is positively identified, possible varieties will display in the Variety field. Select the appropriate one or none and the possible Attributes will display. Select the appropriate one, then enter the grade. If there are possible errors known for this coin they will be displayed and the user may select the appropriate one or none. The Market Price is now displayed, but additional information may change it. The system tracks nearly 100 different grading companies and more are being added all the time. Also Pedigree can alter the price of the coin. The bottom tray has six buttons. Clicking “Duplicate” creates a duplicate entry in edit mode allowing you to change only the data that is different for the next coin, like the Mint Mark for instance. “Market Price” shows the whole range of prices for that coin and grade. Photo is a utility that allows you to integrate as many photos of any size and quantity for your records. If you later decide to post any of your coins to on-line auctions, your photos can be automatically included. The “Preview” button displays a complete report on that coin. You can enter coins as unique items, as rolls, bags, or other quantities if all coins in that batch are identical. If you choose to later sell or trade them and you had entered them as batch, you can sell or trade one or many and your inventory will correctly maintain the quantity, and a record with full details of any sold or traded coins.

Other features

Coin Database: The coin database that is the foundation of this program is very comprehensive and is updated automatically when necessary through the internet. When new coins, or new errors or varieties become public they are added to the database. The pricing database can supply any mint state grade price from PO1 thru MS70 inclusive, and any proof grade price from PF40 thru PF70 inclusive for every U.S. coin since 1616 including errors and varieties. To illustrate how comprehensive the database is, one coin selected at random, say a 1949-D Lincoln Cent offers twelve choice in “Variety” as per the following screen:

So far for the 1949-D Small Cent there are 13 possible coins. There are only three attributes, but each attribute could be applied to each of the 13 choices giving us 39 different possible coins. Since the coin is Mint State there are only 70 possible grades, or 70 X 39 = 2,730 different coins for the 1949-D. We currently display only 9 different errors but we actually track 97. Let’s just use the currently displayed errors and we now have a potential of 24,570 coins. Add nearly 100 grading companies and the 18 Pedigrees we currently display (there are many more!) and you may see why using a printed price list or a book may leave a little to be desired. The popular book format price lists boast having 60,000 prices, this software supplies approximately 6,000,000 times more! No one needs them all but you definitely need the right one!

There is one more very important point. This system automatically updates the retail price of each and every one of your coins every month. You don’t have to get a list, look a coin, try to find a listing that accurately describes your coin, copy that price (if you can find it) into your records and move on to the next one. NumisEXPERT does that for you automatically every month. The software could update prices weekly, daily or even in real time if you really needed that level of updates. You don’t need a large library of books.

Coin data/detail: If you need Designer’s Name, edge, weight (grams or grains), diameter, etc., that information and more is available on most coins . Just click the “View Category Reference:

Posting Coins to On-Line Auctions & Webs: Complete tools allow you to design your own graphics for posting to eBay or Yahoo! via batch with your photos, or to www.coinweblisting.com (“CWL” - our own eCommerce site), or to your on-line want list. If your postings sell NumisEXPERT tracks your sales for you. We will be adding additional webs. On CWL, you can have your own exclusive web eCommerce site that you can provide the address to friends so they see only your coins. The sales facilities on CWL are more sophisticated than those available on eBay – check it out. You can offer progressive discounts and the shipping charges and insurance can be tailored precisely the way you want. If your buyers are also NumisEXPERT users you can transfer your coin data and photos directly into their NumisEXPERT software showing you and your information as seller, your sales price as their purchase price, and all details. They can then turn around and offer the coins you sold them on-line within seconds. If you just want to trade or swap coins, they system handles that also. You can post your want-list on line and get automatic notices of what matches your list – without the other guy knowing that you’re looking if you want it that way. You can pick the best one and click the buy button and you’ve got it.

Reports: You can generate any type of report you want or need. If we don’t provide it you can export the data to a spreadsheet and configure your own. Our status report gives you up to the minute info on your collection. It shows what you paid for your coins either individually or collectively, then it shows the current market price, and how long you’ve owned the coins, and what the apr (annual percentage rate of return) on your investment in coins is at that time. You might want to compare this to your 401k!

Setups: You have full control over how the system works for you. You can design your own templates (or use our samples) without knowing a stick of html. You can maintain your want-list either manually or automatically. You can define your preferences – how you want the program to work. You can control tracking your venues (where you sell) and your vendors (where you buy) with the amount of detail you want to keep. Any you can chose to automatically backup your data or do it manually. The system is a tool to help you build the best possible collection that you can.

Online Help: There is an extensive on-line help system. Most of it is context sensitive. That is it will provide help to the feature or function that you are currently using. If you have a question, you are invited to send it to info@ripi.com. One of our staff will answer it as quickly as possible. If you feel an important feature is missing, email us and give us as much detail as possible – if we can incorporate that feature into the software we will do so. This is how we make the program better – you may think of a utility that no one else has thought of.

Errors Support: In most cases if an error occurs in the program the system automatically send a message to our development team and they will fix the problem and respond as quickly as possible. For example, if you enter a coin that we don’t have a price for the specs and grade you’ve entered, you are given the option of having our staff research the price and details and get back to you. If the program crashes, we should get an automatic message.

Price: A one year subscription is $149.95 plus $7.95 shipping. This includes one full year of updates: fixes, updated coins, new utilities, new information as it occurs; updated price database monthly. The monthly updated price database and other updates is available at $49.95 per year after the first year. There is no charge for the web posting facilities, or for using CWL. That is you can sell coins on CWL at no expense for as long as your are a current subscriber. Additionally, there are no limits for you on CWL. You can have your own web with as many postings as you like, with photos, with auto responders, and many other features – all included in your subscription. By the way, once you get your coins in NumisEXPERT, you could, if you wanted to post every one of them to Yahoo!, eBay and CWL automatically. You are responsible for charges that Yahoo! or eBay may levy on you, but CWL is free to you as long as you are a current subscriber.

Where to get NumisEXPERT: You can download a free working copy with full features that will work for at least 30 days to give you hands-on experience with the program. You can convert to a paid subscription thru links in the program.
